BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand has officially announced its readiness to host the Bangkok Pride Festival 2025, positioning the event as a celebration of diversity and a demonstration of the country’s commitment to equality and human rights. The announcement was made this morning (May 19) by Prime Minister’s Office Minister Jiraporn Sindhuprai during a press conference at the Public Relations Department (PRD)’s Media Center on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

The press event was attended by PRD Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem, deputy directors, government officials, and representatives from partner organizations across various sectors.

Scheduled for May 30 to June 1 on Rama I Road, the festival will run under the theme “Born This Way” and is expected to attract over 300,000 participants. The highlight will be the Bangkok Pride Parade on June 1, featuring a 200-meter-long rainbow and identity flag procession. Organizers say the event builds on Thailand’s progress on marriage equality and supports Bangkok’s campaign to host World Pride 2030.

The festival is being organized in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Naruemit Pride Co., Ltd., and a network of public and private partners. Key events include a seven-color parade, the Bangkok Pride Forum, the inaugural Bangkok Pride Awards, and DRAG BANGKOK Festival 2025, a showcase of Thailand’s drag community.

Officials say the festival goes beyond celebration, describing it as part of Thailand’s efforts to promote social inclusion, strengthen equal rights, and attract global attention to Bangkok as a leading destination for diversity and cultural expression. (NNT)
