{"id":2670,"date":"2019-04-11T12:47:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-11T12:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thaianti-humantraffickingaction.org\/Home\/?p=2670"},"modified":"2019-04-26T13:12:33","modified_gmt":"2019-04-26T13:12:33","slug":"government-employers-and-trade-unions-launch-thailands-first-decent-work-country-programme-2019-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thaianti-humantraffickingaction.org\/Home\/2019\/04\/11\/government-employers-and-trade-unions-launch-thailands-first-decent-work-country-programme-2019-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Government, employers and trade unions launch Thailand\u2019s first Decent Work Country Programme (2019-2021)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Royal Thai Government, workers\u2019 and employers\u2019 organizations launched the country\u2019s first Decent Work Country Programme, 2019-2021, marking a centenary of partnership between Thailand and the International Labour Organization (ILO).<\/p>\n<p>The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Ministry of Labour, the Employers\u2019 Confederation of Thailand, the Thai Trade Union Congress, the Labour Congress of Thailand, the National Congress Private Industry of Employee, the State Enterprises Workers\u2019 Relations Confederation and the ILO Country Office for Thailand, Cambodia and Lao PDR at a ceremony, celebrating a centenary of partnership for decent work between Thailand and the ILO (1919-2019).<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony, attended by over 350 participants, was part of a 24h global tour of events webcast worldwide to mark the ILO\u2019s centenary. It was followed by a tripartite dialogue on the Future of work in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding over the Partnerships for Decent Work ceremony, the Minister of Labour, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, said: \u201cthe launch of Thailand\u2019s Decent Work Country Program symbolises Thailand\u2019s commitment to work with the ILO to promote the protection of labour rights, the creation of social justice, and demonstrate our readiness to move forward, securely, hand-in-hand into the next century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Decent Work Country Programmes (DWCPs) are the main framework for delivering ILO\u2019s support to countries, and are focussed on a number of priorities and outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of the ILO Country Office for Thailand, Cambodia and Lao PDR, Mr Graeme Buckley, said: \u201cThailand is one of the founding member States of the ILO. This first Decent Work Country Programme is a landmark in the 100 year history of the relationship between Thailand and the ILO: for the first time we have a tripartite endorsed country programme that will guide our ever closer collaboration over the coming years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thailand\u2019s DWCP is aligned with the national goals of the Government, as well as with the broader UN sustainable development agenda.
