{"id":279,"date":"2014-11-17T18:49:18","date_gmt":"2014-11-17T18:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thaianti-humantraffickingaction.org\/Home\/?p=279"},"modified":"2015-01-12T23:13:01","modified_gmt":"2015-01-12T23:13:01","slug":"police-identify-10-key-traffickers-of-rohingya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thaianti-humantraffickingaction.org\/Home\/2014\/11\/17\/police-identify-10-key-traffickers-of-rohingya\/","title":{"rendered":"Police identify 10 key traffickers of Rohingya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thailand\u2019s police said last week that they have identified ten top traffickers of Rohingya, the ethnic minority whose members have been fleeing Myanmar for the past several years.\u00a0 Police said they were working with the Anti-Money Laundering Office to build cases against the suspected traffickers.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the government\u2019s anti-human trafficking team told The Nation newspaper on condition of anonymity that the team knew the identities of the ten traffickers, but would only release their aliases to the media while they are building their cases against them.\u00a0 \u201cThese agents have contacts in the Rakhine region (a province in Western Myanmar bordering Bangladesh) from where the Rohingya people are exported,\u201d he told the paper.<\/p>\n<p>Of the ten traffickers, the official said, &#8220;These suspects run restaurants, pubs, piers for fisheries and refrigerated truck services as fronts.
