Pol.Gen. Surachate Hakparn, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police (RTP), chaired a tripartite consultation on human trafficking, organized by the RTP, PRC’s Ministry of Public Security, and Myanmar Police Force. He was joined by Pol.Lt.Gen. Niu Haifeng, Deputy Director-General of the International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, Maj.Gen. Surachate emphasized that human trafficking has become a transnational crime that closely links multiple countries, and rapidly increased in number. An effort to prevent and combat by any individual country is more difficult to achieve. It requires close coordination between countries of origin, countries of transit, and destination countries. Therefore, today’s tripartite consultation was organized to discuss the issue of human trafficking in the region.

This tripartite meeting was an important starting point for the three countries to develop a strategic plan to combat the transitional crimes together in a sustainable manner and an opportunity to strengthen their own internal mechanisms accordingly.

Pol. He believed it would help foster each country’s commitment to prevent transnational crime and reduce human trafficking in the region.

The RTP will continue to work on turning the result of consultation into implementation and concrete actions, in order to meet the objectives of this meeting and reassure Thailand’s commitment to work with neighboring countries in fighting transnational crimes, especially human trafficking.

Source: https://siamrath.co.th/n/432258

March 20, 2023.
