On 21 – 23 April 2026, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, led a Thai delegation, comprising Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, Deputy Police Commissioner General, representatives from the Royal Thai Police, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Labour, as well as civil society representatives, to Washington, D.C.<\/div>\n

The delegation met with U.S. counterparts to enhance cooperation in preventing and suppressing online scam networks. They held discussions with Mr. Gabe Amo, Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and Vice Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Judge Jeanine Pirro, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and Head of the Scam Center Strike Force, and Mr. Nils Mueller, North America Regional Director of the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA). All parties underscored the urgent need to work together to dismantle online scam networks in Southeast Asia, which have caused significant harm to people worldwide, including Americans, and are linked to human trafficking, where individuals are deceived and forced to engage in scam operations.<\/div>\n

In addition, the delegation held discussions with<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
(1) Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, during which the Thai side, led by Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., provided an overview of the situation, patterns of criminal networks and victims, possible areas of cooperation, legal developments, and measures to support victims\u2019 reintegration into society;<\/div>\n

(2) Head of the Scam Center Strike Force, where both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in law enforcement, as well as the exchange of information and expertise. The Deputy Police Commissioner General also highlighted the establishment and achievements of the Royal Thai Police\u2019s War Room in integrating cooperation among government agencies, the banking sector, and the private sector to combat online scam networks; and<\/div>\n

(3) North America Regional Director of GASA, where both sides emphasized the importance of multi-stakeholder cooperation, particularly with the private sector and online platform providers, and exchanged views on information sharing and approaches to protecting victims of online scams and human trafficking.<\/div>\n
