The Criminal Court’s new divisions on human trafficking, corruption and misbehaviour by state officials, and narcotics will open today, while a memorandum of understanding on human trafficking will be signed.

Supreme Court president Direk Ingkaninan will preside over the opening ceremony this morning.Pattarasak Wannasang, secretary general of the Office of Judiciary of Thailand, will also speak at the event.

During the ceremony, the MoU on developing a criminal justice system for human trafficking cases will be signed by representatives of the Criminal Court, the Office of the Attorney General, the Royal Thai Police, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS).

The MoU aims to improve the efficiency of prosecutions in human trafficking cases.

After the ceremony, a discussion on the role of the courts in suppressing human trafficking will be held.

The speakers will be General Wanchai Roujanavong, head of the International Affairs Department at the Office of the Attorney General, Pol General Chatchawal Suksomjit, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Justice, and MSDHS permanent secretary Wichien Chawalit.
